Dear members of the University community,

It is with great regret that I must inform you of the tragic death of a student in one of our residences.

I would like all members of our uOttawa community to join me in expressing our heartfelt condolences to the student’s family, friends and classmates during this very difficult time. The University has put in place special measures to help those close to this student deal with this trying situation.

If you are grieving or need support, we encourage our University community, particularly our students, to contact one of the support services that are available:

Students:

Mental Health and Wellness support

Employees:
Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP, 24/7): 1-844-880-9142

In case of an emergency:
Protection Services (24/7): 613-562-5411 (or extension 5411 on campus)
Emergency services: 911

We wish to respect the family’s privacy so we will not be providing further details. In light of this, we ask that you to use good judgement and to keep our student's family, friends and colleagues in mind in your communications and social media interactions.

Let us remember to support one another during this difficult time.
