The University of Ottawa invites members of the media to attend the Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race 2016 (GNCTR 2016).
During this competition, hosted by the University of Ottawa, teams of engineers from various universities and technical schools across Canada will race against one another in toboggans of their own design. Each toboggan must support five riders, weigh less than 350 lbs and have a running surface made entirely of concrete. The teams will test their toboggan’s speed, steering and braking performance in the hopes of winning the competition.
Media are also invited to a technical expo on January 29 that will showcase toboggans built by teams from across Canada and the United States. Learn how each toboggan was designed, and see the hard work and creativity that went into each team’s display.
